What's more important? Intensity or consistency?

Both you say?  Well, my experience and best results have been from consistency initially.  Intensity is also a secondary quality.  Unless you have a regular routine several days each week on an on going basis, there is no progress.  And on the other hand if you are just going through the motions and not upping the ante each and every workout, then no progress is made.

Each journey starts with the first step.  I know, an old cliche but it applies here.  Step meaning you have to move forward and first meaning that this is one of many to follow.  It all sounds too simple and maybe it is and that is why it is so difficult.  So take that first step with the knowledge and desire to keep moving forward and consistently towards a goal:  such as running your first 5k, losing 10 pounds, lifting more weight, increase the number of strict pull-ups etc.

Don't let anything stop you from moving on.  There are days when it is not possible to get what you need done.  And that is fine, but don't let it stop you from doing it the next day.  The first step is the most difficult and you don't want to keep doing that over and over again.  So take the step and keep a goin.  Then it will become a routine or habit that you do on a regular basis.  It is not easy, but it gets easier each time, guaranteed.

The Clean Lean Summer Program

Summer is coming and time to be ready for the beach.  Need a jump start on eating clean or don’t know where to start with this Paleo stuff.  Or you want to start running to build up that cardio and need someone to motivate you on a run or maybe do both.  I can help out for a nominal fee and personalize a running program, a weekly meal plan or just help plan out family friendly summer meals.

Want to run a 5k, 10k or a half marathon?  Let’s train, eat clean and prepare for a race on September 8th at Bowers Mansion.  My experience has been that running complements Crossfit and Crossfit complements running. Feel great, look great and accomplish your goals this summer.

Drop me an e-mail and get started. Stan@crossfitinitiative.com

The first of many.

This is my first attempt at a blog. It will be a new experience for me as well as a steep learning curve. So let's see how it goes. Today is the 3rd day of Spring and feels like a fine winter day. If a winter day can be fine. Sometimes I just feel cold inside and can never get warm, while other days the cold doesn't effect me that much. When you are confident in your path through out the day simple things that are out of your control seem insignificant. But if you are unsure of your decisions and lack the conviction to jump the hurdles set in front of you, the weather, the quality of sleep you got the night before, the way the lady at Starbucks greeted you in the morning all make a huge difference. So is everything based on how you are feeling, maybe? Can you decide to actually be in a good mood? Does that mean you can decide to be in a bad mood and if so why would you decide to be in a bad mood. Today I will decide to be in a productive mood. I had a good workout at noon, had a good lunch and felt like I accomplished something. Let's see what tomorrow brings or what I allow it to bring me.
